I like everything about the rod will finally get an opportunity June 10th to find out how much I truly like it. Going offshore fishing 165 to 185 for the water for American red snapper
My first SP rod. I went back and forth in emails and was encouraged to go with this rod as my first. I bought the 1-power rod. Subsequent emails convinced me to pick up a Shimano Ocea jigger 1500 to perch on top (bought it in Tokyo). I appreciate the advice and jumped in both feet. The set up is lightweight. I fish off a kayak on the CA Sonoma coast, and it’s been so fun. I’ve fished the rod, and I can talk about it now. A big LingCod yanks and dives, and it’s amazing watching the rod tip point straight down at the fish. I feel the “slam “ of the bite, raise the rod to embed the hook, and it’s game on. I suck at jigging. My rhythm is janky. I love the spiral wraps and how it minimizes the line hanging on the tip. The rod is good looking. Bummer I wrapped it with some foam in case it falls overboard. I will cry if it sinks. Thanks JJ. I’m suggesting this rod to everyone.
Perfect starter rod for me. Xavier was incredible. His passion was palpable, as we chatted for almost an hour and a half. JJ’s is the real deal!
