Johnny Jigs® Super Sonic Slow Pitch Jig – Directional Flutter with Moderate-Fast Drop
The Johnny Jigs® Super Sonic Slow Pitch Jig features a unique "scoop" or spoon-shaped design that produces a distinctive directional flutter during the fall. This innovative profile allows the jig to move laterally as it descends, creating the appearance of a wounded baitfish attempting to escape—an action that consistently triggers reaction strikes from predatory fish.
The Super Sonic is designed as a moderately fast falling jig, making it extremely useful in mixed current and drift conditions when anglers want to get their jig down efficiently while still presenting a different profile than traditional fast-drop jigs.
As the jig falls under slack line, the scoop-shaped body causes it to shoot outward in the direction it is facing, creating a staircase-like fall pattern until tension is reintroduced to the line. This directional movement is complemented by a subtle side-to-side wobble produced by the jig’s keeled shape.
The jig’s brilliant fire foil finish beneath the paint reflects light with every movement, mimicking the flash of baitfish scales and helping the lure stand out to nearby predators.
This combination of directional movement, moderate drop speed, and reflective flash makes the Super Sonic highly effective for targeting grouper, snapper, amberjack, tuna, and other aggressive offshore species.
