What Should I Look for in a Slow Pitch Jigging Rod?

While spinning tackle can be used, most slow pitch jigging rods are designed for conventional reels. They are lightweight, sensitive, with even, medium-slow action that slowly lifts the jig and then pitches it, allowing it to produce a versatile range of action on the drop, or “pitch,” hence the name. In addition to being light, many slow pitch rods have a split grip which improves sensitivity, as well as a short foregrip (or no foregrip). In a slow pitch jigging rod, the whole purpose is imparting the proper action to the jig, not in powering the fish back to the boat.
